Policies FAQ

The right fit between therapist and client is a crucial predictor of outcomes in therapy, especially when it comes to a nontraditional paradigm like Mind Body Syndrome. I offer free 10 minute phone consultations to help us determine if I could be of service to you.
-
Therapy tends to work best when there is week to week consistency, especially early on. This is especially true for people dealing with Mind Body Syndrome. We are interrupting patterns that reinforce themselves, and it is crucial to stay engaged with this process.

Cash sessions are 50-minutes by default. For insurance clients, session length is based on medical necessity and billed accordingly.
-
If you cancel with less than 24 hours notice, you are billed the full session fee.
Failure to attend a scheduled session without advance notice will be considered a late cancellation and will result in the full session fee being charged.
In the event you are more than 15 minutes late to the start of a session, the session will be cancelled and you will be charged the full cancellation fee. -

For clients who are located somewhere in the state of Minnesota that is not within driving distance to my office in Hopkins, I do offer virtual sessions on a case-by-case basis.I will meet with clients virtually in the event of illness or inclement weather.

I do write Family and Medical Leave Act letters when clinically appropriate. However, given that part of the MBS treatment protocol is to resume normal activities, I may elect not to write an FMLA letter if I believe it would be counter-therapeutic. This is something we will discuss in more detail during therapy if the need arises.

Currently, I accept Optum, Medica, and UHC.

If I don’t accept your insurance, you may have an out-of-network benefit which covers some of the cost of therapy. You can find out what your plan covers by contacting your insurance company.

What are my out-of-network benefits for outpatient mental health?
Is there a deductible to meet before coverage applies? If so, how much have I met?
Is there a limit to how many sessions are covered each year? If so, what is it?
What is the "allowed" amount that will be reimbursed for sessions? If so, what is the percentage of that you reimburse to me?
Do I need pre-authorization to begin?
Are telehealth sessions covered?
